Astilbe 'Vision in Pink' is a herbaceous perennial that forms dense clumps of attractive, fern-like foliage. The leaves are deep green and finely divided, giving the plant a delicate and feathery appearance. Beautiful plume-like flowers that emerge in mid to late summer. 'Vision in Pink' produces numerous, upright, and feathery flower spikes that are a stunning shade of pink.

  • Size: Astilbe 'Vision in Pink' typically grows to a height of about 18 to 24 inches (45 to 60 cm) and spreads to a width of 12 to 18 inches (30 to 45 cm). The flower spikes can rise above the foliage and reach a height of 24 to 30 inches (60 to 75 cm).
  • Light: Astilbes thrive in partial to full shade. They prefer dappled sunlight or morning sun with afternoon shade. Too much direct sun can scorch the leaves and flowers.
  • Soil: Well-draining, humus-rich soil is ideal for Astilbe. They prefer slightly acidic to neutral soil conditions. If your soil is heavy or clayey, consider adding organic matter like compost to improve drainage.
  • Watering: Astilbes like consistently moist soil, so regular watering is essential, especially during dry spells or in warmer climates. Avoid waterlogging the soil, as excessive moisture can lead to root rot.
  • Mulching: Applying a layer of organic mulch around the base of the plant helps retain soil moisture, keeps the roots cool, and prevents weed growth.
  • Fertilizer: In early spring, when new growth appears, you can apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer to promote healthy growth and abundant flowering. Follow the package instructions for application rates.
  • Deadheading: After the initial bloom period, you can remove spent flower spikes to encourage the plant to focus its energy on new growth and potential reblooming.
  • Dividing: Astilbes can become crowded over time. Dividing the clumps every 2 to 3 years in early spring or late summer helps maintain plant health and vigor.
