The Pygmy Peashrub (Caragana arborescens ‘Nana’) is a compact, globe-shaped dwarf form of the hardy Siberian peashrub, well suited to harsh prairie climates like Regina. It forms a dense, rounded mound of finely textured, bright green compound leaves that give it a soft, fern-like appearance. In late spring, small yellow pea-like flowers may appear, though flowering is usually light compared to standard caragana. Its neat, naturally spherical habit and extreme hardiness make it an excellent low-maintenance accent shrub for rock gardens, borders, and foundation plantings.
