Hosta ‘Curly Fries’ is a whimsical, miniature to small hosta prized for its exceptionally narrow, extremely wavy chartreuse foliage that curls and twists like its playful common name suggests. The narrow, rippled leaves form a low, arching mound that adds unique texture and bright colour to shade beds, woodland gardens, and containers. In mid‑summer, slender stems rise above the foliage bearing lavender to pale purple flowers, adding seasonal interest and attracting pollinators such as bees and hummingbirds. ‘Curly Fries’ was selected as one of the top hosta varieties by the American Hosta Growers Association and performs reliably in cooler climates.

  • Size: Height: ~15 cm (6 in) foliage height. Spread: ~35–40 cm (14–16 in) mature mound

  • Light: Best in partial shade to shade; morning sun can enhance chartreuse leaf colour but avoid hot afternoon sun.
  • Soil: Moist, well‑drained soil rich in organic matter.
  • Water: Keep evenly moist—Hostas dislike extended dry periods.
  • Hardiness: Zones 3–9 — hardy for Regina, SK gardens.
