The Tower Poplar is a fast-growing, columnar deciduous tree valued for its very narrow upright form, making it ideal for tight spaces, privacy screens, and windbreaks in prairie landscapes like Regina. It has smooth grey-green bark and dense, bright green leaves that form a tall, vertical accent without spreading wide. In summer it provides excellent shade and screening, while in fall the foliage turns a clear golden yellow before dropping. Its strong, architectural form makes it especially useful where space is limited but height is desired.

  • Height: 30–40 ft (9–12 m)
  • Spread: 3–6 ft (1–2 m)
  • Growth Rate: Very fast (up to 3–5 ft per year under good conditions)
  • Light: Full sun for best growth and form
  • Soil: Adaptable; prefers well-drained, moderately fertile soil
  • Watering: Regular watering during establishment; moderate water needs once mature
  • Hardiness: Zone 2–3, very well suited for Regina winters
  • Pruning: Minimal pruning required; remove dead or damaged branches as needed
  • Fertilizer: Light spring feeding or compost to support rapid growth
  • Maintenance: Low maintenance, but may require occasional shaping to maintain tight columnar form
  • Uses: Privacy screen, windbreak, narrow space planting, driveway or property line accent
