Cerata KWS Seed Potatoes - 3lbs. Alternative to Red Pontiac.
Cerata KWS produces tubers that are round-oval to round in shape, with a smooth, deep red skin and shallow eyes. The flesh inside is white. The skin texture is smooth, and the tubers tend to be fairly large.
- Size: Tuber size: large. Number of tubers per plant: around 12-15.
- Maturing time: medium-late.
- Good for baking, home fries, and general cooking.
- Plant when soil is warm — ideal soil temperature for seed potatoes is above ~7–8 °C.
- For early start, you may “green-sprout” (“chit”) the seed potatoes ~3–4 weeks before planting: place them in a cool, dry, bright (not direct sun) spot until sprouts appear, then plant.
- Plant seed tubers whole (or cut so each piece has at least one “eye”) — make sure any cut/piece is allowed to callous slightly before planting to minimize rot (common seed-potato best practice).
- For storage before planting: keep in a cool, dark, humid place (moderate humidity, good airflow) — avoid damp or freezing conditions; seed potatoes breathe and need ventilation to avoid rot.
