The Ure pear is an exceptionally cold-hardy pear cultivar developed in Canada, valued for its rugged constitution and dependable fruiting in northern climates. It forms a dense, upright to rounded tree with glossy dark green, oval leaves that turn yellow in fall. In spring, it is covered with abundant clusters of white blossoms, followed by small to medium-sized, round to slightly oblong pears with greenish-yellow skin, often blushed red. The flesh is firm and aromatic, best suited for cooking, canning, or preserves rather than fresh eating.

  • Soil: Adaptable; prefers well-drained loam but tolerates heavier soils
